Privacy Policy

Your privacy is the entire reason Nova exists. This policy explains what data Nova collects (spoiler: almost nothing) and how we handle what little we do.

1. Nova Software (Free — Local)

What stays on your device (everything):

Voice recordings — captured, transcribed, and discarded locally. Never uploaded.
Conversations — stored in local memory files on your Mac. Never transmitted.
Screen captures — processed by the local vision model. Never leave your machine.
Settings & preferences — stored in local config files.

We have zero access to any of this data. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no phone-home in the Nova software.

2. Nova Pro (Cloud Hybrid Mode)

If you choose to enable cloud hybrid mode, the following applies:

Cloud mode is opt-in only. It is disabled by default. When enabled, OpenAI's privacy policy applies to the data sent to them.

Voice audio is never sent to the cloud — only the transcribed text.

3. Website (nov-assistant.com)

The website is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. We may collect:

Basic analytics: page views, referrer, country (via GitHub/Cloudflare — no personal data)
No cookies from us (third-party embeds may set their own)
No tracking pixels or ad networks

4. Payments & Subscriptions

Payments are processed by Ko-fi and PayPal.
We never see or store your credit card number, bank details, or full PayPal account info.
We may receive your name, email, and transaction amount from Ko-fi/PayPal for support purposes.

5. Data We Collect Directly

If you contact us via GitHub Issues, Ko-fi, or email, we may receive:

Your username or email address
The content of your message

We use this only to respond to your request. We do not sell, share, or use it for marketing.

6. Children's Privacy

Nova does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The software runs locally and collects no data from any user.

7. Your Rights

Since Nova stores all data locally on your device, you have full control:

Delete your data: Remove Nova's files from your Mac at any time
Export your data: All conversation history is in readable files
Disable cloud mode: Toggle it off in settings — instant effect
Cancel subscription: Through Ko-fi or PayPal at any time

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Nova evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will be announced on GitHub.
